Museum - Mysterious Township Tour

  • Williamstown Museum 19651 John Street Williamstown, ON, K0C 2J0 Canada (map)

A popular skiing destination at this time of year, Lac Brome can boast being equally as beautiful a place in the summertime. This sort of wintry townships scene has been depicted in the latest novel Kingdom of Blood by Canadian mystery writer, Louise Penny, whose work we will explore while on our ‘mystery tour’. Our townships trip accommodation will be 2 nights at the exclusive Auberge West Brome, a venue known for its luxurious rooms and suites as well as its luxurious bistro where we’ll be enjoying our breakfast and dinners (cost for these meals included in price as are all admission fees to sites visited).

Our activities feature a range of interests and we’ll be visiting numerous sites. The Missisquoi Museum will be of key interest to many and shows different periods of the areas history throughout the display of original artefacts. We will also enjoy a wine tasting and tour at the Vignoble Gagliano. While the climates of Quebec and Sicily could hardly be more different, respect for all things wine remains the same says the Sicilian Gagliano family who own and operate the Vignoble Gagliano in

Dunham, Quebec. A visit to a benedictine monastery, the Abbaye de Saint Benoit-du-lac, known for it’s services in Gregorian chant as well as it’s homemade goods like ciders, cheese, and jellies. This unique and varied schedule will certainly be memorable and enjoyable to all! Registration for the 2019 Mystery Museum Bus Trip to the Eastern Townships is now open and up to date GNLM members are encouraged to reserve their spots before MARCH 1st, 2019 at which point the trip become open to the public.

As in previous years, interested members are asked to contact trip coordinator Wendy Wert at 613-347-3098 for trip details and to register. Unlike other trips that are organized out of the offices of travel agents, our annual bus trip is organized by several of our experienced and well-travelled volunteer museum directors. That means that unlike those other businesses, any profit we make from our trips goes 100% back in to the running of the museum and maintenance of the collection. We’ve received much positive feedback for our trips, especially for last years trip where our accommodations and meals made us feel like royalty! So if you’d like to join in on this fun fundraiser, then contact Wendy Wert at 613-347-3098 for more details! For those of you who have already expressed interest in booking, then relevant details are listed below.

Traveller information is required to book (applications available from Wendy). Trip cost is $700 with a $200 deposit requested no later then April 1st, 2019. The balance is requested no later then July 1st, 2019. Thank you!
