Virtual Live Paranormal Investigation @ Sir John Johnson Manor House

  • Manor House 19692 William Street Williamstown, Ontario Canada (map)

It is rare that you come upon a site in Ontario with recorded ghostly encounters dating back over a century.

Welcome to the the Sir John Johnson House, a Parks Canada national historic site, located at the village of Williamstown in the Township of South Glengarry. The site is locally referred to as the Sir John Johnson Manor House, or simply as the Manor House. Williamstown was established by Sir John Johnson, 2nd Baronet of New York, a military leader in the American Revolutionary War and per-eminent Loyalist in 1784. He named the settlement after his father. Johnson is one of the founders of Ontario, certainly of Eastern Ontario.

The Sir John Johnson Manor House Committee is the lessee here. The Committee was established in the mid 1990s as a not-for-profit charitable corporation. The committee maintains an Archives established to stimulate interest in, and facilitate the study of, local history and genealogical research. The Archives contains land records some of which date as far back as the late 1700’s. We share this information, as well as that found in related documents, such as wills, mortgages, bills of sale, etc. We are also able to help people in their genealogical searches through the use of our church and cemetery records, and other associated material. We are pleased that we have been able to assist people from across North America in their searches. We charge a nominal fee in order to offset operating costs.

We are very proud to have embarked on a restoration project in cooperation with Parks Canada. Parks Canada in the last few years has made a considerable investment in stabilizing and protecting the building. We are now doing our part. Our latest efforts have been to restore three downstairs rooms and renovate a fourth. The major effort will be to restore the upstairs. We have plans for an inn with three bedrooms (with on suite bathrooms), a suite of rooms, mini apartment, if you will, with its own kitchen, living room, bed room and bathroom. There will also be a sitting room and a separate bathroom with tub. So we have been fundraising, and as you can imagine this is an expensive project. We are volunteers, so all the money goes into the project. We are encouraging people far and wide to become patrons and to think of this as a legacy project. One lady whose family lived in this house (she left as a small child) donated $50,000. We need a lot more help. The proceeds from operating the Inn will go back to support the site.

We provide income tax receipts. Our biggest donations, so far, have been through transfer of investments. For some people this might be a perfect venue for estate planning. We can be contacted at our email address sirjohnjohnsonmanorhouse@bellnet.ca or our Facebook page Sir John Johnson Manor House.

Over its 230 plus years, this historic home has hosted many generations of various families. Over the past century this home has provided many with supernatural experiences. Many associated with a woman in blue. We investigated in late 2019 and we had our share of unexplainable events. We are returning after hearing that since our visit paranormal activity has amplified.
Join us virtually for a paranormal evening investigating the paranormal of this historically significant home. A night of history, storytelling and communication with spirit.

This is a free event for all! Like many of our historic sites they can sure use your support. If you wish to support the Sir John Johnson Manor House please email them directly at sirjohnjohnsonmanorhouse@bellnet.ca and make a pledge of support.
